Government Engineering College, Katpur, Patan has been officially recognized as a Nodal Centre for the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Outreach Programme. This recognition places GEC Patan among a select group of institutions nationwide entrusted with advancing capacity building in space science and geospatial technologies.
The IIRS–ISRO Outreach Programme is a flagship national initiative aimed at enhancing knowledge, technical skills, and awareness in space technology applications among students, faculty members, researchers, and professionals. As an authorized Nodal Centre, GEC Patan actively facilitates a wide range of online courses, workshops, and live interactive sessions delivered by eminent scientists and experts from IIRS and ISRO.
The programme focuses on strengthening academic and user segments in key domains such as Remote Sensing (RS), Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), and allied space technology applications, thereby bridging the gap between theoretical learning and real-world applications.
All courses offered under this Outreach Programme are generally free of cost, ensuring inclusive access to high-quality education in space and geospatial sciences. Participants who successfully meet attendance and assessment requirements are awarded Merit Certificates issued by IIRS–ISRO, significantly enhancing their academic credentials, research exposure, and career prospects in space, geospatial, and allied technology sectors.
