Computer Science & Engineering Department was established in year 2004 intake of 60 and from 2009 intake is increased to 120. It runs under graduate course in Computer Science & Engineering. Computer Engineering Laboratories are outfitted with high performance servers and computers with latest configurations. It includes C programming lab, Computer network lab, Database lab, and Advanced computing lab and Microprocessor lab. Entire campus is connected with high speed fiber network having large capacity Data Server and 100 Mbps Internet facility of 24×7 hrs. Faculty members are dedicated to import quality education in the field of Computer Engineering and active in research & development work to cope with current market trends. Students are imparted knowledge about technology through workshop and expert lectures in order to interact with academia, industries & professionals.

MOOC Sensitization And Registration (CSE)

The Computer Science & Engineering department organized a sensitization and registration program to create awareness among students about the significance of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). The initiative focused on informing students about the benefits of online learning and the wide range of digital platforms and courses available to support their academic growth and skill development. The program included sessions on institutional guidelines for MOOC implementation and an overview of approved and recommended online courses offered by the university for various engineering disciplines, helping students understand enrollment procedures and course selection.

Introduction to Robotics

The workshop on Introduction to Robotics conducted by Krish Patel at GDG on campus covered the fundamental concepts of robotics, including the design, programming, and control of robots. It introduced key components such as sensors, actuators, and microcontrollers, explaining how they work together to enable robotic movement and interaction with the environment. The session discussed different types of robots, including autonomous and remote-controlled models, and explored programming techniques used to control robotic behavior. Practical examples and demonstrations helped illustrate how to build and program simple robots, providing a solid foundation for further exploration in the field of robotics.

GDG on Campus Orientation Session

Google Developer Groups(GDG) intro session started with our mentor Khushali Raval welcoming everyone and talking about why joining developer communities matters. The core team then showed how big GDG is worldwide and how students of G.E.C. Patan can tap into tech-related activities. We talked about building connections with industry professionals and other tech-loving students. We were introduced to some helpful Google tools. The session concluded with students asking lots of questions about GDG activities and technical skills. The whole event got first-year students excited to become a part of our GDG family.

Unlocking the Future with Machine Learning

Mr. Sumit Chawla led an AI/ML workshop which was organised in collaboration with four universities-ITM SLS Baroda University, Karnavati University, Marwadi University, and Birla Vishwakarma University. AI/ML fundamentals with their real-world applications were introduced. The session emphasized the importance of hands-on experience and practical implementation. Career opportunities, skill development strategies and open-source contributions were also discussed. The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session that offered expert insights to participants.

Basics of Git-Github & Linux

The workshop on Basics of Git, GitHub, and Linux by Kuber Jaydeep at GDG on campus covered Git commands like git init, git add, git commit, git push, and git pull for version control and branching. It explained GitHub’s role in storing and collaborating on code through pull requests and branch management. The Linux section covered basic commands like ls, cd, mkdir, rm, and chmod, along with package management using apt-get and text editing with nano and vim. The workshop highlighted how Git, GitHub, and Linux streamline development and collaboration.

Tech Winter Break

The workshop on Web Development conducted by Yogesh Vasisth at GDG on campus covered the basics of building websites and web applications. It introduced HTML for structuring web pages, CSS for styling, and JavaScript for adding interactivity. Key concepts like responsive design, the DOM (Document Object Model), and event handling were discussed. The session also touched on modern frameworks and libraries like React for building dynamic user interfaces and managing state. Best practices for performance optimization, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility were highlighted, providing a solid foundation for developing modern web applications.

Post by Postman API

The event witnessed active student participation and began with a warm welcome by the organizers. Mr. Achintya Singh delivered an informative session on Postman API, covering its fundamentals, installation process, advanced features, and practical applications in API testing and team collaboration. The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment followed by a vote of thanks to the speaker.

This event was successfully arranged by the Code Hives Club under the leadership of Ms. Ashvi Patel and her team. The event was guided by Prof. Sachin Makwana and Prof. Jay Patel, with constant support and encouragement from the Head of the Department, Dr. Harikrishna Jethva.

Data Visualization with Tableau

On 8 November 2023, the Code Hives (GitHub Club) of GEC Patan organized an online webinar on Data Visualization using Tableau with participation from over 90 students. The session was conducted by Ms. Rama M. Maliya, who explained the fundamentals of data visualization and Tableau, guided students through the installation and account setup process, and covered topics such as data labeling, sorting, dashboard creation, and story development. The webinar concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session followed by a vote of thanks by the host.

The primary objective of the workshop was to provide students with comprehensive insights into Flutter, a versatile framework for modern application development. The session was conducted on the Google Meet platform and featured Mr. Cavin Macwan as the distinguished speaker.

On 17 September 2022, the Code Hives (GitHub Club) of GEC Patan organized an online webinar on Introduction to Git and GitHub with over 130 participants. Mr. Jignesh explained the basics of Git, GitHub, SDLC, version control, and code conflicts through live demonstrations. The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session followed by a vote of thanks by the Head of the Department and faculty members.

Glance at Web Designing

On 30 September 2022, the Code Hives (GitHub Club) of GEC Patan organized a Web Designing workshop at the CSE Department Seminar Hall for 65 selected students. Mr. Aditya Patel covered the basics of HTML and CSS, including important tags, shortcuts, debugging techniques, and layout concepts through live practical sessions and a demo project. The workshop also included interactive doubt-solving, a brunch break, the announcement of the new club coordinator, and concluded with valuable student feedback.

Out of only two NSS Volunteers selected from Gujarat our Student and NSS Volunteer Abhishek H. Mehta was selected for Independence Day Ceremony 2025 going to organised from 13th to 15th August 2025 at Red Fort, New Delhi. The selection took place a rigorous interview process among the representatives of many Universities of Gujarat.
